The horse that was never wrong (for one day).

A good relationship is not one that thrives as long it is always kept in happy, predictable, safe places. That is actually a very weak relationship. A good relationship is one that can withstand challenges and unhappy feeling, that can stand firm in fear and stress even if it’s not pretty. A good relationship won’t disconnect in the messy unpredictability of real world circumstances.

The Triple Crown

As for the endurance plans… I have come to a good place, and I’m certain there will be new mountains to climb next year, but it’s too far away to get wrapped up in that story yet… there are stories in between that need engagement first. Khaleesi is on a well deserved break for now with her herd.

The weight of a thought.

We were released with a couple other riders, and there were a couple just behind. This seemed set up well to help us motivate out into the long middle loop, and if we could just get past the magnetic thought field of base camp I knew she’d go along fine. Or so I thought… this did not look good at all…

Get busy livin’

I suppose it’s good that I’ve left her to benign neglect for the last year as she was not well, because I didn’t know how to help her, so letting her rest was probably not a bad season. Yet she’s come to a holding pattern where she hasn’t told me she’s ready to die, and yet she is still quite unwell. And I can’t see leaving her alone there any longer. As the quote goes (from the Shawshank Redemption) It’s time to get busy living, or get busy dying.
